Significance of Diwali

Diwali is a joyous Hindu festival. It is celebrated with great pomp and show in India and outside the country. There is much significance of the festival for the people because it is believed that goddess Laxmi the lord of wealth shower goodwill and happiness in every home. As per the ancient believes Lord Ram returned to his home after fourteen years of exile. He killed Ravana and took back his wife from him. As a joint celebration of Rama’s victory and coming back to home, people of Ayodhya enlightened his path. Though it was the darkest night of the year as it was Amavasya, but the thousands of lights made it the brightest night. From that time Diwali is celebrated with great zest and zeal throughout the nation.
